Stephen
Speaks EN/ES/FR
Since my first day in a classroom helping young people express their ideas in poetic form, up to and including helping a successful candidate for the European Space Agency’s astronaut program, my focus has been on helping others to delve into their goals and ambitions and support them in articulating these. I spent some ten years counseling young people in 54 countries on their university level options abroad, and more recently 16 years working with engineers, artists, scientists and consultants on their professional orientation and development. I help people ask better questions, since I never pretend to have the answers for them. That said, I can provide insights into the industry and guide them towards a best practice approach in preparing for and excelling at their next transition, whether upon leaving school, mid-career or as a parent returning to the workforce after the demanding commitment to caring for their families. Along the way, I’ve worked with people from over 130 nationalities at virtually all stages in their academic and professional careers, and have learned as much from them as they may have from me. I’m also a very proud father and grandfather, organic farmer, bricolage dilettante and sometime poetaster. “Career,” from Latin, means to be moving in a runaway cart towards an unknown destination, but with a bit of confidence, some hard work on your communication tools and just plain practice, you can go from careening to preening as you sign that contract for the next amazing role you have been dreaming of!
